DENKDOKTER is not a treatment, not therapy, and not a coaching programme. It is a series of conversations in which thinking, reflecting, choices and responsibility are central. Employees are not helped by taking over the problem, but by guiding them in understanding it. Not by symptom management, but by meaning-making.
As Ludwig Wittgenstein put it: philosophy aims to show the fly the way out of the bottle.
When someone is referred via an employer, occupational health service or occupational physician, DENKDOKTER starts with an intake. In this conversation it is explored whether there is a medical situation. If medical assessment or treatment is needed, the person is referred on. If there is room for reflection, the process can start.
In addition to referral, there is also the option of a private introductory conversation. This conversation lasts thirty minutes, is free of charge and without obligation, and has no intake character. The sole aim is to explore whether DENKDOKTER is suitable and whether someone recognises themselves in the approach.
A process usually consists of a first conversation, followed by two or three follow-up conversations of about an hour. If desired, a joint conversation with the employer can take place at the end of the process. Conversations take place in person or online, depending on the situation and preference. In the conversations, thinking is central. Not analysing for the sake of analysing, but to get clear about what the situation is. Questions that return include which assumptions and convictions play a role, what happens if nothing changes, and what belongs to one’s own responsibility and what does not. DENKDOKTER mirrors, confronts and clarifies. Not to advise or steer, but to increase ownership.
What is actually going on here?
Which beliefs drive you?
What if nothing changes?
What is yours, and what is not?
We mirror, confront and clarify — not to advise, but to increase ownership.
The conversations are strictly confidential. Only the employee receives feedback, unless otherwise agreed in advance. DENKDOKTER does not report in terms of performance, diagnosis or judgement. The position is independent and focused on the employee’s thinking process.
DENKDOKTER works when someone wants to understand what is going on, without immediately fixing it in a judgement or solution. When someone is willing to question their own assumptions and convictions and to take responsibility for their own thinking. When direction is sought without having to be predefined. Doubt is not an obstacle either. Reflection does not have to be certain to be meaningful. DENKDOKTER offers no solution from the outside, but makes it possible for clarity to arise from within.
